In 2015, it was crowned as the \u2018BEST EUROPEAN DESTINATION<\/a>\u2019 by the European travel guide. So make sure that you have all the information you need to get the best out of your\u00a03 Days in Bordeaux!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"local<\/a>Day 1: SAINT PIERRE & SAINT MICHEL<\/span><\/h2>\n

1)<\/strong> Once you\u2019ve checked into your hotel, don\u2019t waste anytime getting out to enjoy the city! Head straight to the historic Saint-Pierre District<\/strong>\u00a0and Place Saint Pierre<\/strong><\/a>, admiring the architecture on your way.<\/span><\/p>\n

2)<\/strong>\u00a0See the amazing Place de la Bourse<\/a><\/strong> and the Miroir d\u2019Eau<\/strong>, and look right to gaze upon the Napoleonic Pont de Pierre<\/strong><\/a>. Afterwards, sit on the Place du Palais<\/strong>\u00a0and look\u00a0up at the 15th century city gate,\u00a0Porte Cailhau<\/strong><\/a> with a glass of wine as you watch the sun go down.<\/span><\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Bordeaux\u2019s churches and squares are lit up beautifully in the evening,\u00a0so take a stroll past the Grosse Cloche<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0Then head\u00a0towards the Basilique Saint-Michel<\/a><\/strong> before having dinner on the Passage Saint-Michel<\/strong><\/a> terrace.<\/span><\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> If you\u2019re still keen afterwards, walk over\u00a0towards Place de la Victoire<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for pubs\u00a0in the area, like the HMS Victory<\/strong><\/a>. Or, stop in at the Quartier Libre <\/a><\/strong>for more drinks and fun, French style!<\/span><\/p>\n

LOCAL TIP: Bordeaux is known for wine and cocktails… but if you ever want a cold pint of craft beer, be sure to swing through Sweeney Todd’s<\/a> while you’re in Saint-Pierre!<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

\"bordeaux<\/a>Day 2 : SAINT \u00c9MILION & A NIGHT OUT<\/span><\/h2>\n


\n1)<\/strong> After your\u00a0\u2018lie-in\u2019 (GO ON! You\u2019re on holiday), head to the Breakfast Club<\/a><\/strong> for a lazy breakfast with plenty of coffee and tea. Try their homemade cakes and scones, they’re\u00a0delicious!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> If you are interested in wine (you probably are because you’re in Bordeaux), you MUST\u00a0book yourself a day trip out to Saint-\u00c9milion<\/a>! <\/strong>Use\u00a0either the Tourist Office<\/a><\/strong> or with our favourite anglophone tour guides, Rustic Vines Tours<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> When you get back into the city after a long afternoon\u00a0of wine tasting, you’re probably going to want to walk it off. Why not walk the famous Cours\u00a0de L’Intendance<\/strong> between Place de la Comedie<\/strong><\/a> and Place Gambetta<\/strong><\/a>… Be sure and see the tucked away church, l’\u00c9glise Notre Dame<\/a><\/strong> on your way!<\/span><\/p>\n

Night Out<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0Bordeaux is your oyster! Stop by Pey Berland<\/a><\/strong> and take in the massive cathedral by night. Then experience the culture at some\u00a0the best French\u00a0Bars<\/strong> in the city, or meet fellow travellers in the awesome\u00a0International Pubs<\/strong>!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

LOCAL TIP: There is a little known ‘speakeasy’ cocktail bar in the old city centre called Le Cancan.<\/a> The entrance is hidden behind a book shop, and well worth seeking out!<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

\"localDay 3 : CHARTRONS DISTRICT\u00a0or\u00a0RUE SAINT CATHERINE<\/span><\/h2>\n


\nSo it\u2019s your last day of your 3 Days in Bordeaux! Best make the most of it… In our opinion you have two main options for an easy afternoon;<\/span><\/p>\n

Option 1<\/strong> <\/span>: Take a stroll in the\u00a0Chartrons District\u00a0<\/strong>down the very French,\u00a0Rue Notre Dame<\/strong>. Check out all of the great shops and French antiques\u00a0before eating lunch either at the outdoor food market on the quays (a must if you’re here on Sunday) or stop in a local favourite like\u00a0Le Boucher<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Afterwards the Wine Museum<\/strong><\/a>, just next door, is definitely worth a visit! And in the evening, head to the terraces of the March\u00e9 des Chartrons<\/strong> to have a drink (The Market Tavern <\/a>is a great spot)<\/em> and enjoy the sunset!<\/span><\/p>\n

Option 2<\/strong> <\/span>:\u00a0Start your last day at Place de la Victoire<\/a><\/strong> and walk the longest shopping street in Europe, Rue Saint Catherine<\/strong> towards Place de la Comedie<\/strong> (notice how the shops get larger as you get closer to the Grand Theatre).<\/span><\/p>\n

Want to eat like a local?<\/strong> While you’re\u00a0shopping, think about getting a bottle of wine, and a few different\u00a0cheeses and dried meats…. Then, head to the Quays on either\u00a0side of the Garonne River for and sit with other Bordelais for a Local Style PicNic<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

LOCAL TIP:\u00a0On Sunday nights, there’s a really vibrant Bilingual Pub Quiz<\/strong> in the Houses of Parliament<\/a><\/strong> that makes a great end to an awesome weekend away!<\/span><\/h3>\n

If you’re tired of walking at any point, take the\u00a0BatCub Boat Ferry<\/strong>\u00a0from Les Hangars to Quinconces! It’s a GREAT way to see the city from another angle.<\/em><\/p>\n
