CAPC Contemporary Art Museum Bordeaux

Contemporary and Plastic Arts Museum

The CAPC is Bordeaux’s contemporary art museum devoted to the emergence of modern art, and whose permanent collection is one of the best in France : 1299 works from 189 artists!

The impressive building, created as the Lainé warehouse where colonial goods were stored, was refurbished and turned into a museum by architects Denis Valode, Jean Pistre and Andrée Putmann.

The CAPC offers a programme of temporary exhibitions, group lessons and guided visits, focusing on the history and development of modern art. They also offer practical art workshops for children.

Check out their events here.

LOCAL TIP: Since 2000 the museum has frequently been used for exhibitions of music, architecture, cinema, literature or design and often hosts pop-art exhibitions.
