Christmas Market (Marché de Noël de Bordeaux)

A Bordeaux Winter Wonderland that comes alive from November 26 to December 26

The Bordeaux Christmas Market is a winter wonderland that comes alive from November 26 to December 26, every day from 10:30 AM to 9 PM. Admission is free, and though the entrance might sport a long line (I’ve been there!), the wait is worth it. Locals come to relax and embrace the joy of the season with family and friends.

Stroll leisurely through the market’s charming alleys, and you’ll be greeted by an abundance of stalls offering the best of Bordeaux. From regional foods to handmade crafts, bags, jewelry, and toys, there’s something for everyone. If you care for the environment and love all things local, you’ll find delightful handmade gifts crafted from indigenous materials. Don’t forget to indulge in the delicious offerings like hot mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, and the uniquely smelly cheeses from Pays Basque. If you’re a visitor from across the pond, prepare to be amazed by these flavorful treats!

Make room for Bordeaux’s special pastries called cannelés, flavored with vanilla and rum, or perhaps the local praline nuts, custard tarts, and chocolates. If you crave something more filling, stop by one of the restaurant stalls serving homemade delights like flammekueche, tartiflette, sausages and fries, or crêpes. Pair your meal with a local beer, mulled wine, or hot apple cider, and you’ve captured the essence of Bordeaux’s Christmas spirit.

LOCAL TIP: Start your stroll at the Mulled Wine Stall (ask for a “Vin Chaud”), and don’t count the calories when you eat a mouth-watering Raclette Cheese Burger!
