Darwin Ecosystem

Bordeaux eco-system that promotes collaboration, sustainable development and innovation.
Bordeaux’s must-see attraction on the right bank

In its own little corner of Bordeaux, Darwin is starting a small revolution in the way that businesses think. It’s an outwards-looking project that promotes sustainable development and creativity, with the two going hand in hand.

Essentially, the eco-system is composed of the largest organic restaurant/shop in France, a café where the coffee is roasted onsite, a brewery that makes delicious organic beers (which are served in its various outlets), a waterside bar & restaurant and various other small businesses.

Visitors are amazed by the industrial beauty of the main concourse, with the old army barracks covered in beautiful street art. The impressive huge wooden installation over the covered outdoor area demonstrates that there is no small level of craftsmanship in everything that happens here.

Sometimes Darwin holds special events in its disused warehouse sections, such as cocktail evenings with DJs in the summer months. It’s a place that’s worth a look, we guarantee you’ll go back.

Le Magasin Général

This is the largest organic food court and shop in France, where you can try tasty local produce every day (except Sundays generally). Outside there are retro couches where you can chill with one of their locally-made beers (in fact, they’re brewed just across the road). A football table (or foosball for our American friends!) adds to the fun!

‘Heures Heureuses’ is an event that takes place throughout the summer on Wednesday evenings from 7pm until midnight, with food trucks and a DJ creating those chill after work vibes, it’s worth the trip over the river if you’re staying on the left bank!

Les Chantiers de la Garonne

With great views over the Garonne, once this place opens in the spring and summer months it’s immediately popular. Musical evenings with wine and oysters, beer brewed from next door at La Brasserie de la Lune and lounge chairs… it’s the closest thing Bordeaux has to a beach!
