La Cité du Vin

State-of-the-art museum that honours wines from around the world

La Cité du Vin is the most recent major addition to Bordeaux’s tourist attractions. Fittingly, this museum is exclusively dedicated to wine, yet not only Bordeaux wine but wine from all over the world.

This museum and cultural space was designed to be the Mecca of wine, and where better to create such a centre than in the world capital of wine?

La Cité du vin stands tall and proud at the end of the quays, glimmering in the sunlight and shining like a beacon at night. From across the river, from far away down the Garonne, once you turn the bend on the river on the left bank, you can see this new beauty.

Architecturally, la Cité du Vin is truly splendid. The glass exterior and smooth curves scream out modernity, inviting you inside to discover an ancient treasure: wine!

Here, we learn about wine across time and civilisations, its origins and infinite diversity. This experience is sensory, using sight, smell and touch.

La Cité du Vin has much more than this engrossing museum space; there is a boutique, a belvedere with a marvellous view, an auditorium, an exhibition space and restaurants.
