Place Camille Jullian

A square that's awash with terraces in the thick of it all

In this square you can feel the hustle and bustle of everyday Bordeaux life. Place Camille Jullian marks the edge of the Saint-Pierre area of town.

When the sun shines down on the port de la lune, you can expect this part of town to be very popular, particularly because of the terraces that dominate the square. Each bar and restaurant has a large terrace of their own, where space is at a premium on such days.

“Camille Jullian” is also very well-located, close to the shops on Rue Sainte-Catherine and close to the tram at Cours Alsace-Lorraine. In fact, it’s close to everything.

Architecturally speaking, the square looks very much like the rest of the Saint-Pierre quarter, with elegant 18th century buildings. There is a column in the centre of the square that stands alone.

Some people might be surprised to see a church with a terrace, where the clientele drink coffee and eat salads. This is not a trick of the eyes! The church is now an independent cinema, that shows a diverse range of films and hosts debates. The café part of the cinema is very popular.
